Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has cautioned President Bola Tinubu against taking political support for granted ahead of the 2027 presidential election, saying political endorsements do not guarantee success.
Melaye, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), made the remark in a post shared on his X account on Wednesday.
Drawing a comparison with former military Head of State, Sani Abacha, Melaye recalled that all five registered political parties at the time had endorsed Abacha’s transition to civilian rule before his sudden death in 1998.
According to him, Abacha’s experience illustrates what he described as the “God factor” in the affairs of men.
“There is a God factor in the affairs of men. Tinubu does not understand this. Abacha was endorsed by all the five political parties at that time,” Melaye wrote.
He added that despite appearing certain of becoming a civilian president, Abacha’s plans never materialised.
“There was no contest, he was already cruising to become a civilian president. God picked His phone and called Abacha.”
Melaye concluded his message with a warning to the President, saying:
“When God calls you, there is no network failure. That God has not gone on omugo, Tinubu watch it.”
The remarks come amid increasing political realignments and early conversations surrounding the 2027 general election. Tinubu has not responded to Melaye’s comments…..See more
