She stated that the gesture was intended to provide succor to the people at the grassroots as the country navigates economic challenges. According to her, N10,000 cash palliative was given to 2,000 residents across the eight political wards within the community.

“The initiative is aimed at alleviating the financial strain on the most vulnerable in the community.

“The beneficiaries are drawn from different political wards and in all walks of life; they include artisans, the elderly, traders, transport workers, youths, and individuals living with disabilities,” she said.

Animashahun noted that this initiative was the eighth edition, demonstrating the council’s commitment to the welfare of the community.

“It is not about the money distributed; it is about showing that someone cares,” she said.

She urged the beneficiaries to appreciate the council’s kind gestures.

“Let us learn how to acknowledge our leaders’ efforts, no matter how small. It is worth appreciating.

“When leaders see their work is appreciated, it will encourage them to do more,” she added.

Animashahun appealed to the youth to shift from using social media for negative criticism, stressing that it should be utilized to share constructive feedback that would assist in improving community development.

Mr. Toyin Gbadamosi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Party Chairman in Epe, lauded the chairman’s proactive approach.

“It is not every day you see local government leaders taking such deliberate steps. The chairman’s actions are a clear testament to her compassion.

“The cash palliative will surely excite the recipients here today, and it’s obvious on their faces as they smile home,” he said.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Laide Adebayo, commended the council’s kind gesture while appealing for continued support for the people.

Another beneficiary, Mr. Tunde Badejo, stated that he had benefited multiple times from the council’s cash palliative distribution.

“I am so grateful for this initiative because it serves as a big relief for me and my family during this harsh economic period.

“I pray to God to continue to strengthen the LG chairman and give her the wisdom, energy, and determination to continue giving back to the community,” he said.
