Ikwechegh reportedly threatened to make the driver “disappear” and even suggested locking him in his generator house. Speaking with VeryDarkMan on Monday, Abuwatseya explained that after the incident, Ikwechegh called police officers who forcibly took him to the station.

“After the incident, he called some police officers; I don’t know what division they were from, but they bundled me off to the station,” the driver said. “They didn’t allow me to make any calls.”

He continued, “I was taken to the IPO’s office, where the police officer spoke with him outside. After that, the IPO mentioned he would investigate the matter at the representative’s house in Maitama.”

Abuwatseya stated that he was kept behind the counter for over two hours. Upon the IPO’s return, he asked why the driver had recorded the incident. “The honourable came to the station and started calling me names. I finally left the station at 3:00 a.m., but my car is still there.”

Recalling the initial encounter, Abuwatseya said he received a request through the bolt app while he was about to close for the day. “It was around 8:30 p.m. when I saw someone sitting a few meters from my car; I didn’t realize he was the one I was supposed to deliver to.”

He greeted the man twice but received no response, leading him to believe he wasn’t the correct recipient. “So, I picked up my phone to call the number. When his phone rang, the first thing I heard was, ‘Are you stupid? Are you mad? Are you a fool? Bring my stuff for me.’ I was upset because I was just doing my job.”

Abuwatseya explained, “I shouldn’t have to bring his item to him; he was supposed to collect it from me. That’s what angered him. He then said, ‘Are you telling me to come to your car and pick it up? Are you okay? Do you know who you’re talking to?’”

Initially, he hadn’t intended to record the encounter, but when Ikwechegh began threatening him—saying he would pay N50 million to have him eliminated—he felt compelled to document the incident for his safety.
