This latest report brings the Kremlin’s total casualty count to approximately 690,720 since the invasion began in February 2022, as stated by Ukraine’s General Staff. Among these figures, 1,680 troops were reported to have been killed or injured in the last 24 hours alone, contributing to the overall weekly total of 10,490.

These casualty figures have not been independently verified, and the Russian Embassy has been approached for comment. Typically, the Kremlin disputes any casualty numbers released by Ukraine and refrains from providing updates on alleged Ukrainian losses.

In a contrasting claim, the Kremlin stated on Monday that Ukraine had incurred over 2,000 casualties on the front lines in the northeast and east of the country within the previous 24 hours.

A report by the Wall Street Journal in September estimated that the total casualties for both nations have reached about one million since the war’s onset in February 2022.

Reports suggest that one of Russia’s military strategies involves aggressive offensives, treating personnel as expendable assets in what has been termed “meat grinder” tactics.

Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, the Chief of the Defense Staff for the British military, has indicated that it may take the Kremlin up to five years to restore the Russian army to its state as of February 2022.
