The Federal High Court in Abuja has halted the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from disbursing monthly allocations to the Rivers State government. Justice Abdulmalik issued the order on Wednesday, condemning Fubara’s presentation of the 2024 budget before a four-member Rivers House of Assembly as a breach of constitutional requirements. The judge stated that Fubara’s actions in enacting the budget reflect significant violations of the 1999 Constitution.

Consequently, the court has ordered the CBN, Accountant General of the Federation, Zenith Bank, and Access Bank to prevent Fubara from accessing funds allocated to Rivers State from the Consolidated Revenue and Federation Accounts.
