The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission, BASIEC, has postponed the date for the local government area election to the 17th of August, 2024.
Executive Chairman of BASIEC, Ahmed Makama, made this known in a statement on Friday.
Makama said the initial plan to hold the elections on August 10 could not be sustained due some reasons he did not disclose.
He called on political parties and other stakeholders to note the new adjustment and tidy internal mechanisms ahead of the exercise.
DAILY POST reports that after the tenure expiration of the previously elected chairmen and councilors in 2020, all the 20 local government chairmen and vice chairmen were being appointed on interim basis.
