Soyinka made this statement during an interview with The NEWS magazine, which was conducted to mark his 90th birthday.
The interviewers inquired when Soyinka would comment on Tinubu’s administration, reminding him of a promise he made during a visit to Tinubu in Lagos last year.
Soyinka had previously stated he would evaluate the administration after it had completed one year in office. However, he indicated that he is not yet ready to share his views.
In his response, Soyinka emphasized that he does not operate on a strict timeline, suggesting that people should not expect him to speak precisely one year into Tinubu’s term. He acknowledged that many are eager to hear his thoughts but made it clear that he would not be rushed or pressured into making a statement before he is prepared.
