Lawal made the remarks during an interview on TVC on Tuesday, where he described his current political stance as one of retirement from active party politics.
He stated that while he is certain about candidates he will not vote for, he is still undecided on who will eventually receive his vote in the upcoming election.
“Between Two Devils” Comment Sparks Reaction
During the interview, Lawal expressed strong criticism of both leading political figures, suggesting that neither represented a desirable option for the presidency.
He said:
“I find myself between the devil and the devil… as bad as Bola Tinubu is right now, I believe Atiku will make a worse president than Tinubu.”
The comment has since generated widespread reactions across political circles and social media platforms.
Exit From Partisan Politics
Lawal, who recently exited the African Democratic Congress (ADC), also confirmed that he has fully withdrawn from partisan political engagement.
He explained that he no longer intends to campaign or mobilise support for any candidate ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to him, his role in politics has ended, and he now considers himself a private citizen with a single personal vote.
Possible Voting Preference
When asked whether he would consider supporting a potential Peter Obi–Rabiu Kwankwaso alliance in 2027, Lawal declined to commit to any political bloc.
He stated that his decision would remain personal and independent, adding that he might even consider voting for activist and politician Omoyele Sowore when the time comes.
The former SGF maintained that his position reflects personal judgment rather than political allegiance.
