to the recent announcement from President Bola Tinubu, who stated that Lagbaja died on Tuesday, November 5, Ude claims that the Army Chief actually passed away weeks earlier, on October 17, at a hospital in the United States.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) as reported by LATEST_NEWS Blog, Ude detailed his version of events surrounding Lagbaja’ s death, asserting that the Army Chief had sought medical treatment abroad before his death.

According to Ude, Lagbaja initially traveled from Nigeria to Germany to address a cancer diagnosis. After an assessment, German doctors reportedly advised him to pursue further treatment at a U. S. hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to the illness on October 17.

Ude’ s post continued to outline that he had initially reported the death of Lagbaja on October 20, yet the Nigerian Army dismissed his report, labeling it ” fake news” and allegedly threatened to arrest him.

In his post, Ude said he faced online attacks as the military purportedly deployed ” social media urchins” to discredit his information.

According to Ude’ s account, Lagbaja’ s death reportedly caused significant disruption within both the presidency and the military. The Army Chief’ s passing allegedly came at a time when President Tinubu was on vacation in London, creating a sensitive situation that required careful handling due to political and security concerns.

Ude stated that the Nigerian Intelligence Agency (NIA) advised against publicizing the death immediately, fearing it could pose security risks, especially considering recent tensions with Niger Republic and concerns over a potential coup.

In response to these security alerts, President Tinubu allegedly took prompt action by cutting short his trip, retiring multiple high- ranking military officials, and appointing an acting Chief of Army Staff. The acting officer was recently confirmed as the new Chief of Army Staff.
