The representatives, including Oba ‘Kole Ojutalayo, the Laaroke of Wanikin, were present to represent the ex-VC’s foundation when they faced backlash from students upset about the 1999 killings of five OAU students, including George Iwilade (also known as Afrika).
Professor Omole was the Vice Chancellor during the time of the tragic events, and students have long alleged his involvement. When Omole’s representatives arrived at Oduduwa Hall, students, along with the Student Union leadership, staged a protest outside, chanting Aluta songs.
They insisted that the former VC and his representatives had no moral authority to speak to students regarding the murders of Afrika and the others.
