Osogbo Renaissance Group Press Statement In Full Below;....Read Full Article>>
The Osogbo Renaissance Group has been following with keen interest in the media, the campaign of Calumny that is been sponsored by men of yesterday on the issue of the Technical College Land against the incumbent government
We also read with disappointment the piece one of our elders in Osogbo, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, put up on his Facebook timeline. Initially, we chose to take a back seat while we allow time to unfold the truth about the entire matter and for us to gather the facts.
As an indigine of Osogbo and a group of young professionals, we won’t want to delve into any matter that has to do with the development of our land without getting accurate information about it.
That being said, we have discovered that our elders who rode on the name of Osogbo to get political status are the ones behind the noise. The set of people who at one time or the other rubbished the stool of Ataoja for political gains. However, we will not allow political partisanship, greed, and self-interest to cost us something good in Osogbo as it has happened in the past.
The press statement that was released today by Osun Progressive Libration Minders (OPLM) and Osogbo Development Action Group (ODAG) has clearly shown those behind the entire noise. The content of their statements are very biased and not in anyway portray the minds of the true Osogbo son’s and daughter’s who earnestly pray that the state capital answer to it’s name among the comity of state capitals.
It is quite worrisome and unfortunate that at any time something good wants to come to Osogbo, some of our friends and elders will politicise it or condemn it to suit their interest, pecuniary or political. Earlier today, we sent a representative to the office of the Capital Territory Development Agency in Osogbo for fact findings.
What we discovered:
- That our Egbon, Mr. Lekan Salami of Gbemu Compound in Osogbo was alleged of an attempt to grab the land.
- He was accused of having a record of deceitful schemes, part of which is masterminding numerous faceless groups that falsely claiming to be acting on behalf of Osogbo’s interests.
Our fact-finding visits shed light on the orchestrated efforts of Mr. Salami and his associates, whose actions continue to pose significant risks to lawful development projects, including the Living Spring Technical College Housing Estate—a crucial project designed to benefit the citizens of Osogbo and all of Osun State.
FRAUDULENT LAND SALES AND MANIPULATION OF OSOGBO RESOURCES
In recent years, Mr. Salami was said to have executed several land transactions under the pretence of representing “Osogbo families.” This During the past administration, he and his alleged “Osogbo agitators” were alleged to have sold portions of land situated behind Osogbo Grammar School. This land, supposedly sold for the community’s benefit, was instead transferred to multiple individuals, allegedly benefiting only Mr. Salami and his associates.
These alleged fraudulent sales, orchestrated without genuine authorization or concern for Osogbo’s welfare, have left countless innocent Osun citizens entangled in protracted litigation. As a direct result of Mr. Salami’s alleged actions, many innocent buyers now face devastating legal battles to reclaim their investment.
If that information is true, the manipulation of community assets for personal gain is criminal, not only a violation of public trust but also a direct attack on the rights of the citizens of Osun State.
Now to the disruption of the Living Spring Technical College Housing Estate Project
Mr. Salami and his friends were alleged to be currently leveraging their manufactured influence to obstruct the development of the Living Spring Technical College Housing Estate.
The information from the Capital Develolment Authority is that the project approved by the governor is designed to provide affordable housing, public facilities, and economic opportunities for Osogbo residents. Despite the immense potential of this development to uplift the local community, Mr. Salami’s interests lie in derailing its success, prioritizing his self-serving objectives over the growth and welfare of Osogbo.
The False Allegations Against the Government
The petition spearheaded by Mr. Salami is a calculated attempt to discredit the Governor’s administration, falsely insinuating that the government is opposed to Osogbo’s progress. These baseless accusations are not only misleading but also an insult to the Governor’s substantial efforts to advance Osogbo’s development. Osogbo will never be an ingrate to the governor whose administration has taken bold steps to foster growth and prosperity in the town and across Osun State.
The Living Spring Technical College Housing Estate represents a hallmark of the governor’s vision for Osogbo’s future. This project, if implemented, will bring the promise of improved living conditions, modern facilities, and economic growth to the heart of Osogbo, underscoring the Governor’s commitment to the people.
A CALL TO ACTION FOR JUSTICE
Osogbo deserves a community free from the manipulation of self-serving individuals like Mr. Lekan Salami. His long-standing record of deceit and exploitation, as demonstrated by the sales Osogbo land, is a matter of grave concern.
We call upon law enforcement, the judiciary, community leaders, and our Kabiesi to investigate Mr. Salami, hold him accountable and protect the rightful development initiatives intended to benefit the people.
The people of Osogbo should remain vigilant against these fraudulent schemes and support the government’s initiatives that truly aim to uplift and develop the community.
Let it be clear: the accusations against the governor are false and unfounded, spread by those who have no interest in Osogbo’s future prosperity.
We want to commend the Osun State Governor’s Exceptional Leadership and Visionary Development Initiatives across the state. While we acknowledged the strides of development his administration has done for us in Osogbo, we want to him not to allow this lofty development to go with the paper but to see to it full implementation within a short period of time.
No doubt, the people of Osun State are witnessing a transformational era under his exemplary leadership, his unwavering commitment to infrastructure, and community development has set a remarkable standard. Governor Adeleke’s visionary approach is not only reshaping our landscape but also laying the foundation for sustainable growth and prosperity that will benefit generations to come.
Osogbo Renaissance will continue to support Mr. Governor’s drive to bring tangible, positive change to Osun, evident in the numerous ongoing projects across the state. From expansive road networks connecting business areas of Osogbo (Old Garage, Igboma, Aiyetoro) to residential area (Agunbelewo), the renovated and equiped healthcare facilities across our town among others.
We want to state without mincing words that the initiative behind Osogbo Technical College Housing Estate is beyond just a project; it represent a commitment to empowering our people and fostering opportunities that uplift our town.
A development that will spur economic growth, attracting investors and creating new jobs, all of which will contribute to the financial well-being of our community.
While we are aware that recruitment of groups is still ongoing by these people to pursue their greedy motives, we want to kindly request that the groups speak to issues raised, if they are true or not.
We call on the well-meaning citizens and residents of Osun to unite in support of this administration’s noble efforts to foster a brighter future. Let us rally around our governor and his team, who are working tirelessly to promote Osun’s growth, uphold its values, and safeguard its resources.
Together, we can champion the vision for a stronger osogbo and Osun — one that thrives on progress, community, and shared prosperity.
