In the viral video, the presenter asked Sowore;
“Currently you are in New Jersey and you are calling for a protest in Nigeria. How do you intend to be part of this?”
Omoyele Sowore asserted that his physical absence from Nigeria does not preclude him from organizing a protest, citing his extensive experience in over 200 demonstrations. He emphasized that the digital age has transcended geographical limitations, allowing for remote participation. Sowore declined to confirm his physical presence at the protests, but vowed to be fully engaged and committed to the cause.
Here is what Omoyele Sowore said;
“That I am not in Nigeria doesn’t mean that I can’t call for a protest. I have participated in over 200 protests. The world has gone beyond physical engagements. I’m not here to defend whether I will be there or not. All I can say for now is that I will be fully involved in the protests”
However Bayo Onanuga has reacted to the statement. Bayo Onanuga accused Omoyele Sowore of hypocritically inciting protests in Nigeria while comfortably residing in New Jersey, USA, with his family. He cautioned Nigerians to be cautious and not fall prey to Sowore’s manipulation.
