His most recent actions include spreading misleading information and sharing fake images, some of which have included fabricated endorsements from international figures and organizations.

In one incident, Ekpa posted a fake image supposedly showing an armory linked to a ” Terrorist Attack in Kpendajah, Togo. ” This claim follows a pattern of Ekpa’ s use of social media to draw attention to his cause, often by presenting unverified or false information.

In another high- profile post from October 20, 2022, Ekpa claimed on his X account (formerly Twitter) that North Korean leader Kim Jong- un had agreed to supply the Biafra government with fighter jets, warships, and various weaponry.

He urged his followers to financially support his cause, stating, ” Breaking News: North Korean President Kim Jong- un has agreed to sell us fighter jets, warships, and weapons. We need more support financially to complete the payment. ”

This was not the first time Ekpa attempted to rally financial support. On July 3, 2022, he called for donations, claiming that only 50 individuals contributing $10 per month for five to six months could help secure Biafra’ s independence by the end of 2023.

He repeated this appeal three days later, on July 6, increasing his target to 100 donors, each contributing $10, 000 monthly for the same period. He publicly thanked those who had already donated and encouraged others to step forward, portraying the contributions as essential to the success of the movement.

However, Ekpa’ s most recent and perhaps most controversial statement came on October 23, 2024. In a now- deleted tweet, he alleged that the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and World Trade Organization (WTO) Director- General Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala had pledged a $57. 5 billion loan to the Biafra Government in Exile. He claimed this funding was meant to support the declaration of an independent Biafra on December 2, 2024.

Following Ekpa’ s statement, Okonjo- Iweala quickly issued a strong rebuttal, publicly denying the claim. She stated, ” I know no sensible person will believe what is contained in the outrageous tweet below, but in these troubled times, it is important to underscore that the statement is false. Again, I urge all those misusing my name to desist. ” Her response highlighted the inaccuracy of Ekpa’ s statements and served as a warning to others who might consider using false information for political purposes.

Ekpa has also recently announced a ” sit- at- home” protest, aiming to reinforce his movement’ s presence in Nigeria’ s southeastern region. The protest was meant to precede the alleged launch of warships, fighter jets, and an armory in the region as part of his planned declaration of independence. His claims have added tension to the area, where security issues are already a concern due to growing unrest.

He further heightened attention by posting a message in Igbo, stating, ” Gwo gwon gwo! Obia nke mbu iju. Obia nke abu iju. Obia nke ato iju. There is no mercy on the terrorists going on we don’ t know tribe, ” signaling a strong stance against those he perceives as opponents. However, these posts have raised concerns over the authenticity of his claims and the potential for misinformation to escalate the situation.

Amid these actions, Ekpa has now hinted that his struggle for Biafra might extend for decades if necessary. In a recent video shared on social media, he mentioned that the quest for Biafra could continue for 23 more years, underscoring his determination but also raising questions about the stability and credibility of his movement.

Ekpa’ s ongoing attempts to rally support and spread his message have attracted criticism from various quarters, with many urging caution around his claims. While his movement has gained some followers, the repeated use of unverified or false information could undermine his efforts and damage the reputation of those who support the idea of Biafra’ s independence.
