Biya, who is currently 91 years of age is known as the longest service president in the country, released a statement on Thursday, August 22, through the Founder of the Foreign Press Association Africa, Kennedy Wandera, noted that he has eyes for the 2026 president election.
Biya, who has been serving as president for 42 years released a report to also delay the election by a year (postponing from 2025 to 2026) and to allow allow him contest despite his age, adding that other politicians may not be allowed to contest.
This report has reportedly angered the opposition in Cameroon
“Cameroon’s parliament last month approved Biya’s request to postpone parliamentary and Municipal elections until 2026 to allow some breathing space, claiming that the political calendar is crowded,” the report said.
