Woda Sandra, an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) from Plateau State has announced her intention to participate in the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest scheduled from August 1stto 10th.

The decision reflects her deep frustration with the ongoing neglect by the government regarding the dire circumstances faced by Nigerians and the IDPs like herself across the country.

In a video seen by SaharaReporters, Woda Sandra stated that for the past seven months, since her community was sacked on December 24, 2023, she has witnessed a harrowing lack of support from authorities.

She described the situation saying, “We’ve been displaced from our villages since December 24th, 2023. It’s been seven good months; nobody cared about taking us back to our villages.”

Sandra articulated her discontent with the government’s failure to provide adequate protection and assistance.

“You got this power to protect our lives and our properties but what have we gotten in return? Tons and tons of hardship,” she lamented.

Sandra’s grievances are not limited to her personal hardship but extend to the broader state of Nigeria’s infrastructure.

She criticised the government’s neglect of essential services, stating, “Our healthcare system is, you know, is something you cannot even talk about. How about the schools?”

“We’re coming out en masse to express our bitterness,” she said.

Sandra’s criticism is also directed at the current ruling party – All Progressives Congress – accusing them of failing to address pressing economic concerns.

“You promised to secure lives and properties. What do we get in return? It’s been a lot of hardship, hunger,” she stated.

Sandra also emphasised that the protest is not intended to incite violence or destruction.

“We’re not coming out to destroy properties. We’re coming out to let the world know what we’re going through,” she clarified.

She also highlighted the harsh conditions faced by children in IDP camps, noting, “Look at these children at the IDP camp. It’s been raining consistently for the past week. Do you care to know how these children are surviving?”

Sandra firmly stated, “We’re coming out and you dare not shoot us. You dare not arrest us. You dare not kill us.”

“Enough is enough. Nigeria belongs to all of us,” she declared.
