On Thursday, confusion swept through Aribisala Street in the Igando area of Lagos State when a woman identified as Fatima allegedly bit off her neighbor Mitsura’s tongue during a confrontation. Sources revealed that the incident occurred while both women were doing laundry on the premises. The landlady, known simply as Mama Ibadan, told our correspondent that she had intervened in their dispute earlier. “They were both washing, and neighbors called me, saying they were fighting over the bucket. I rushed over to settle the matter and appealed to them. But after I left, I heard shouting and saw Mitsura with her mouth bleeding. That’s when I realized her tongue had been bitten off by Fatima,” she said.
Eighteen-year-old Mitsura, reportedly an orphan who recently moved in with friends, was rushed to the hospital but was rejected by three private facilities before finally being admitted at Igando General Hospital. According to a neighbor, Funke, “We took her to a nearby hospital, but they wouldn’t admit her. The same happened at two other hospitals before the general hospital accepted her. Fatima’s husband also went to the hospital after being informed.”
Another resident disclosed that Mitsura had moved in with friends due to accommodation challenges. Her friends, who were away when the incident occurred, quickly returned and went to the police station to report the matter.
Fatima, who allegedly tried to flee, was restrained by other residents and handed over to the police for prosecution. When contacted, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said he was not yet aware of the incident, stating, “I am not aware.”….Read Full Article
