The woman who had placed so much trust in the defendant, Pastor Desmond Eke, the founder of Deliverance Ministry of the Good Shepherd in Umuihita Avu, Owerri West LGA, Imo State, was revealed to have been deceived only to get raped.
However, three count charges were brought against Pastor Eke included raping the woman, who is also a church member, and giving his victim a stupefying drug that left her weak and sleepy.
Chioma Emuka, the prosecuting attorney, claimed that Pastor Eke took advantage of the woman who became conscious while he was still inside her while she was feeling lightheaded.
The prosecutor, Emuka then asked the pastor why he had to rape the woman, 25 years of age and he responded saying, ” his sperm is holy enough to deliver her of the marine spirit that was disturbing her”.
When Justice Nzeukwu delivered his ruling on the case, he found Pastor Eke guilty on two counts of raping the woman and violating her trust, but he was found not guilty on the third count of causing harm to the victim during the rape.
Continuing, the judge concluded that since there was no resistance and the woman was not fully conscious at the time of the incident, injuries could not have occurred.
