According to the report by The Sun Newspaper, he urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to open up all grazing reserves across the country, and stressed the need to carve out a place for Fulani herders in every state.
Bodejo said that there are marked out grazing reserves in some areas, and stressed the importance of providing facilities in these reserves to settle herders and offer them education, medical care, and electricity.
He said that this will reduce conflicts and criminal activities among herders.
During the interview with The Sun Newspaper, Bodejo was asked if the new ministry means that a particular area in every state will be carved out for the Fulani herders.
In response to the question, he said, “Yes. What I want the federal and the implementers to understand is that there are already some marked out grazing reserves in some places. They should carve out a place for them (Fulani herders) in every state and put them there. It is going to be a good thing. There is supposed to be a grazing reserve in every state.”
The Miyetti Allah leader praised President Tinubu for taking action on the long-discussed issue of grazing reserves, previously proposed as RUGA, cattle colonies, and ranching.
He commended the president’s bold step, and said that what he has done has earned him the nickname “President Action.”
However, he believes that settling herders in designated areas will promote peaceful coexistence and reduce trekking by herders, including the elderly, teenagers, and infants
