The cash disbursed was from the ₦100 million he earlier allocated for the Jere Flood Relief Fund, even as he enjoined the people in the constituents to pray for Allah (God) to forestall future occurrences of any natural or artificial disaster.

Recall that the lawmakers had earlier donated N200 million to the Borno State Government in cushioning the current hardship faced by over a million people hitherto displaced by the 10th September 2024 floods.

Satomi personally lost about 2,000 hectares of his rice field along the Jere Bowl, with over 50,000 hectares of farmlands nearly harvested by farmers in Jere all submerged and destroyed.

Flagging off the gesture at Prime Lodge Conference Hall in Maiduguri on Sunday, Hon. Satomi who is the Chairman House Committee on National Security and Intelligence said, “This support was as a result of devastating floods on September 10th, 2024, which left many residents in Jere Local Government, including Bale Galtimari, Alau, Mashamari, Maimusari, Old Maiduguri, and Khaddamari homeless and in dire need of short term assistance.

“It also underscores my commitment to my constituents’ welfare, aiming to help them rebuild their lives.

“The beneficiaries included victims of the flood disaster, APC/party executives, stakeholders, women, youth, and community leaders, with cash support ranging from ₦50,000 to ₦2 million based on the extent of damage suffered”. He stated.

Satomi, however, urged all and sundry to pray for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives during the incident and wished the injured ones quick recovery.

He also commended the federal, state, and local government areas, philanthropic organizations, and individuals, among others, who donated handsomely to Borno State Government for this trying moment in ameliorating the short, medium, and long-term solutions to victims.

The occasion was attended by notable personalities, which include Hon. Abba Kyari Abba Kolo, who is a member of Borno State House of Assembly (Jere state constituency), Jere APC Chairman Alhaji Kachalla Ali Mai Fata, and a host of other dignitaries. Compose Message
