Exclusive: Danjuma donates $500,000 to UNIMED, Ondo varsity

The donation, according to a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the university, Mr Isaac Oluyi, is to be expended on the faculty of pharmacy which will soon commence post graduate degrees.

Oluyi stated that the donation was meant for the development of infrastructure for UNIMED’s Olu Akinkugbe faculty of Pharmacy.

He said the receipt of the donation was acknowledged at the board meeting of the the Olu Akinkugbe Pharmacy Education Trust (OAPET) held on 8th August 2024.

He explained that the OAPET was into partnership with the state government and the university in the development of the faculty of Pharmacy of the university

The Chairman of OAPET, Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi, expressed gratitude for the donation. In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Adesegun Fatusi said “the donation will significantly move us forward towards our target of completing and commissioning the Olu Akinkugbe Faculty of Pharmacy building this year”

He reiterated the full commitment of the university’s management to the commencement of the Doctor of Pharmacy programme in the new academic session, starting in October 2024.

Meanwhile, the Centre for Herbal Medicine and Drug Discovery, University of Medical Sciences, Ondo will host “2024 African Traditional Medicine Day” on Wednesday, 29th August, 2024.

The theme of the conference is: “Development and Promotion of Indigenous Herbal Medicine to Facilitate Universal Healthcare in Nigeria.”

According to the Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr Isaac Oluyi, the Keynote Speaker for the event is Pharmacist Zainab Shariff, the Pioneer Director, Traditional Complementary and Alternative Medicine Department, Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
