Defence Minister Abubakar Badaru made this announcement during his visit to Kaduna State on Thursday, where he met with Governor Uba Sani at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House.

The minister’s visit focused on finalizing preparations for the upcoming launch of the military command, aimed a t addressing issues such as banditry, terrorism, and kidnapping that have plagued the area for years.

Badaru emphasized the importance of the new Command and Control Centre in enhancing security efforts.

He commended Governor Sani for his administration’s continued support to security forces in their operations against crime in Kaduna State.

“The president has directed us to adopt innovative approaches to resolve these security issues. We are committed to ensuring the success of this initiative,” Badaru stated.

The minister also noted the government’s ongoing collaboration with neighboring countries to tackle terrorism and arms trafficking.

He acknowledged the security concerns surrounding Sokoto and its borders with Niger but assured that proactive measures are being implemented to address these challenges.

He continued: “We are working closely with the military, security agencies, and neighbouring countries to tackle terrorism, banditry, and arms trafficking. The Minister of State for Defence recently visited Sokoto to gather recommendations, and the Chief of Defence Staff met with the Nigerian government to discuss collaborative efforts.

“It’s a real concern, but we are not unaware of the situation. We are working hard to tackle it. The collaboration with Niger will help combat the movement of terrorists, arms, and ammunition.

“The president is committed to ending insecurity in Nigeria. We’re working tirelessly to ensure peace and stability. I assure Nigerians that we’ll tackle these challenges, and by God’s grace, we’ll succeed.”

Governor Sani characterized the planned North West Command and Control Centre as a significant indication of the Federal Government’s dedication to effectively addressing the complex security issues facing the region.

He urged the establishment of a robust regional collaboration framework and operational strategy to combat the persistent threats of banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, and other related crimes that have long afflicted the area.
