FG Opens Free Power Training for 4,000 Nigerian Youths, Offers Monthly Stipend and Jobs (How to Apply)

The Federal Government has launched a nationwide empowerment programme to train 4,000 young Nigerians for careers in the power sector. The application portal opened on July 5, 2026, with successful participants set to receive free technical training, a ₦100,000 monthly stipend, professional certification, and employment opportunities upon completion.

The initiative is designed to tackle youth unemployment while expanding the country’s prepaid electricity meter installation workforce.

NAPTIN, NEMSA to Train and Certify Participants

Under the programme, the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) will provide intensive technical training, while the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) will handle professional certification.

According to the programme details, the initiative aims to develop a pool of qualified installers to support the large-scale deployment of prepaid electricity meters across Nigeria.

Who Can Apply?

Interested applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a Nigerian citizen
  • Be between 18 and 35 years old
  • Possess a minimum of Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) qualification
  • Applications are open to both male and female candidates
  • Applicants must be physically fit to carry out field operations
