The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC Ltd.) has said in addition to the massive deployment of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations nationwide, it and its partners would also build three Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) stations in Ajaokuta. This, according to Malam Mele Kyari, Group Chief Executive Officer, NNPC Ltd, will be in line with the drive to bring CNG closer to Nigerians Kyari said this on Thursday, during the simultaneous commissioning of 12 CNG stations in Abuja and Lagos by Mr Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Gas). “There is simply no way to turn back on delivering CNG for all Nigerians. It is the right thing to do. Is it late? Yes, but we will make progress. “We will cover the gap in order to ensure that the volatility we see with Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) does not apply to gas,” Kyari said. He commended President Bola Tinubu for providing the needed support to drive domestic gas utilisation aimed at delivering cleaner and cheaper source of energy to Nigerians. In his remarks, the Managing Director, NNPC Retail Limited, Mr Huub Stokman said the NNPC Retail planned to set up over 100 CNG sites, including 16 NNPC Gas Marketing and NIPCO Gas JV sites in the next one year. “CNG provides Nigeria with affordable alternatives to existing available fuel products. It will be about 40 per cent cheaper than petrol in Nigeria and with continued investments, it will become a significant part of our energy mix,” Stokman added. The Chairman of the NNPC Board of Directors, Chief Pius Akinyelure, said increased CNG adoption would foster economic benefits by reducing fuel costs for consumers and businesses alike. The NNPC Ltd. has taken the lead in the deployment of Auto-CNG Stations across Nigeria sequel to the removal of fuel subsidy and the declaration of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiatives. Already, NNPC Gas Marketing Limited, a subsidiary of NNPC Limited, in partnership with NIPCO Gas Limited has developed an Auto-CNG rollout plan for construction of 35 CNG stations across the country.Discover more from Ability Digitalz

Meet Cletus Ibeto, one of Nigeria’s richest man who got his secondary school certificate at age 48

Today’s Hamster Kombat Daily Combo
Dr. Cletus Madubugwu Ibeto is a Nigerian entrepreneur and businessman behind the Ibeto Group, one of Nigeria’s most successful and highly diversified indigenous industrial conglomerates. Born in Nigeria’s Anambra State, he started his business career as an automobile spare parts dealer under the Igbo apprenticeship system, commonly called imu-ahia. After his apprenticeship, he set up shop and started the Ibeto Brothers Trading Company, importing and distributing automotive batteries and plastic motor accessories. While running Ibeto Brothers Trading Company, he opened his factory in Nnewi to stop direct importation. After 10 years, he became the owner of one of the largest auto spare parts manufacturing outfits in Nigeria. Between the Shehu Shagari administration and the time he was toppled, Ibeto had a monopoly over the importation of spare parts. After the Shagari administration introduced a policy restricting importation without a license, Ibetu moved quickly to secure the license which cost millions of naira while other importers were hesitant, waiting to see what would become of the policy. Later when these importers were ready to apply for a license, the process had become choked. With his license, Ibeto was able to import as many as 65 containers of spare parts. “There was a line of people wanting to get their hands on replacement parts from my businesses,” he recalled, according to Nairametrics. “I was using boxes to store money at the bank. Even though the markup was close to 500%, people still bought the goods. The first two days after the containers arrived, I made four million pounds.” He used the money he was making from his spare parts business to start Union Autoparts Manufacturing Company Ltd., which would become the leading manufacturer of automotive lead-acid batteries in Nigeria. He also ventured into the petrochemical industry, establishing Ibeto Petrochemical Industries Ltd. The company would grow to become one of the leading players in producing a wide range of chemical-related goods and oil lubricants for domestic and international markets. The company also became the largest liquid storage facility for petroleum products, with a capacity of about 60,000 metric tons. The Nigerian businessman also established Ibeto Energy Development Company in 2008 in response to the federal government’s move to harness natural gas in the Niger Delta. He also followed in the footsteps of Aliko Dangote and established a cement factory called Ibeto Cement. Today, Ibeto Group has subsidiaries, including Ibeto Cement Company Limited, Ibeto Industries Limited, Ibeto Petrochemical Industries Limited, Union Auto Parts Manufacturing Limited, Odoh Holdings Limited, Cottenwooden Gas Limited, Max Shipping Services Limited, CMI Communications Limited, and Ibeto Hotels Limited. Ibeto has an accounting degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He got his degree at the age of 54. Also, he received a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), Honoris Causa, from the same institution in recognition of his business experience. Ebonyi State University also conferred an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Business Administration on Ibeto. To acknowledge his contributions to the socio-economic development of the country and service to humanity, he was also honored several times by the Federal Government of Nigeria with Office of the Order of the Niger (OON) and Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON).Discover more from Ability Digitalz

Confused? ‘I’m still on the fence’ – Peter Obi refuses to take sides in Labour Party family feud

Peter Obi said he was unfazed by talks that external forces were fueling the party’s crisis. Obi stated this on Thursday, July 4, at the Labour House in Abuja after meeting with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) National Transition Committee. The committee, under the leadership of former NLC President Abdulwaheed Omar, was established by the NLC Political Commission to spearhead the party’s reform following the NLC’s decision to oppose Julius Abure’s re-election as National Chairman two months ago, keeping the public informed about the party’s reform process. Peter Obi at the Labour House in Abuja during the meeting with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) National Transition Committee. [Segun Adeyemi/Original] When asked by pressmen about being accused of being on the fence, Obi said,”I’m still on the fence. From that fence, I’ll resolve it.” “It will be very amicably resolved. Remember, today, you’re talking about the Labour Party. I’m sure in 2019, the Labour Party was an issue because it didn’t have a presidential candidate,”he added. Obi was also unfazed by talks that external forces were fueling the party’s crisis. “Whichever forces that are involved will resolve it. External and internal, we will amicably resolve this to the greater interest of Nigerians, not just the Labour Party. “We will start caring about what concerns Nigerians. Nigerians do not expect us as politicians to be preoccupied by party wranglings. They want us to be preoccupied with issues affecting Nigerians, such as their health, their children’s education, food, and pulling people out of poverty. “We can’t have 30 million people that will face hunger, with more people being thrown into poverty and everything, and we’re preoccupied by party wrangling. We are going to resolve it and focus on doing what we are expected as politicians. It means we are public servants and must focus on the people,”Obi added.Discover more from Ability Digitalz

The project, awarded in 2020 at the cost of N30.6 billion, has been completed, bringing relief to FCT residents. Wike expressed gratitude to the contractor for ensuring the timely completion of the road project. In addition to thanking President Tinubu, the leadership of the National Assembly, and members of the Federal Executive Council for their support, the Minister of State, FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, extended appreciation to other stakeholders involved in the project. Operatives from the Bauchi Police Command have rescued a 5-year-old boy who had been chained and starved for three days by his father. The rescue followed a tip-off from concerned neighbors in the Gwallagan Mayaka area of Bauchi metropolis. The incident came to light on July 3, 2024, when the ward head of Gwallagan Mayaka received information from a resident who had been alerted by his wife, Amina (not her real name), that a 5-year-old neighbor was found tied with a chain inside a room at their address. Amina confirmed the boy’s condition, finding him lying unconscious and restrained. The Command’s spokesman, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, stated that upon receiving the information, a team led by CSP Mubarak S. Baba, DPO D’ Division, Dutsen Tanshi, promptly moved to the scene and rescued the boy. During an interview, the victim, identified as Hussaini Abubakar, revealed that his biological father, Abubakar Nuhu, a 50-year-old known as Wanzam of Gwallagan Mayaka, had mistreated him. Hussaini disclosed that he had been confined without food for three days. Following this revelation, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad, directed the DPO to arrest the offender for investigation and prosecution. During interrogation, the suspect, Abubakar Nuhu, claimed he had confined his son on the advice of a friend to prevent the boy from stealing neighbours’ valuables. The CP has ordered the DPO to transfer the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the CID to thoroughly investigate the matter and uncover any other motives behind this heinous act.Discover more from Ability Digitalz
