Video swept social media showing the fatal shooting of Marcus Ranson, 30, who was gunned down in his car in the city’s Chicago Lawn neighborhood on July 11.

It came moments after a man spoke with Ranson at his car window, when two men ambushed him with guns and rapidly fired a number of shots inside the vehicle.

Ranson was found in the car around 7:50pm, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

As of Friday evening, the Chicago Sun Times reported that no arrests had been made over the shooting. Anyone with information is urged to contact 833-408-0069.

The Chicago Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for updates on the investigation.

In the footage, a man wearing a backpack was seen exiting a store near to where Ranson was parked alongside several other vehicles.

He begins walking towards Ranson’s white vehicle, but appears to stop for a moment to speak with the man who was talking to Ranson seconds before.

The man then turns around, and briefly passes one of the men who shot Ranson, who was openly gripping a handgun by his side.

The suspect, seen wearing a grey hoodie and jeans, and walked quickly at Ranson in the vehicle before rapidly firing a number of shots at him.

A second suspect, wearing a black hoodie, quickly followed behind and also fired several shots at the vehicle.

At that same moment, a woman appeared to open the side car door and run for her life.

Ranson’s identity was confirmed by the Cook County medical examiner’s office, and an autopsy on his body ruled his death as a homicide.

The reason for the shooting remains unclear.
