“I’m thrilled to coach him” – Amorim praises Man Utd star he’s excited to work with.

New Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim, has expressed his excitement about coaching Manuel Ugarte, stating that he is “very happy” to work with the midfielder again.
Amorim, who will officially take charge of the club on Monday, will reunite with Ugarte at Old Trafford after the two previously worked together at Sporting Lisbon, where they won the Portuguese league title.
Praising Ugarte, Amorim referred to the midfielder as a “very talented boy” and shared his admiration for all Uruguayans he has managed.
“All the Uruguayans I’ve worked with have been incredible, and that’s why I have such a love for them,” Amorim told TNT Sports Mexico.
“Manuel Ugarte is very talented and still has a lot of potential to develop. I’m thrilled to have him back at Manchester United.”

Rodri, who made history as the first Spanish Ballon d’Or winner since Luis Suarez in 1960, was reflecting on his career when he drew the comparison. Messi, widely considered one of the greatest players in football history, has long been a benchmark for excellence.
In an interview with *The Mirror* on Wednesday, November 13, Rodri spoke about facing these two giants. When asked by a Spanish reporter about the most challenging player he’s come up against, the Euro 2024 champion said, “I’d say Leo (Messi), and in the Premier League, Salah at his best. Going to Anfield is like a knife; it’s really tough.”
Manchester City midfielder, Rodri, has said neither Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi or Karim Benzema, congratulated him following his Ballon d’Or triumph.
Rodri also said that Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric, who is also a former winner of the gong, did not congratulate him.
Rodri secured the 2024 Ballon d’Or at the Théâtre du Châtelet on October 28. He won the trophy ahead of Real Madrid attacker Vinicius Jr.
Rodri claimed that none of the recent Ballon d’Or winners came forward to congratulate him.
The list included Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo – the two most decorated Ballon d’Or winners of the generation.
Messi and Ronaldo established an uncontested duopoly over the award during their primes, winning it 13 times between them.
While Messi has eight Ballons d’Or, Ronaldo has five.
In a recent interview with Diario AS (via @MadridXtra on X), Rodri said, “Messages from previous Ballon d’Or winners? Let me check… There are none from Messi, Cristiano, Modrić or Benzema (laughs).”

Suspended Premier League referee David Coote was reportedly caught on video snorting a white substance during Euro 2024.
The eight-second clip, which leaked on Wednesday night, reportedly shows Coote using a rolled-up banknote to inhale the powder.
Coote is currently suspended by the referees’ body, PGMOL, following a separate incident where a video surfaced of him making derogatory remarks about Liverpool and manager Jurgen Klopp. He was also removed from officiating European matches by UEFA.
The newly leaked video is believed to have been recorded on July 6, the day after the Euro 2024 quarter-final between Portugal and France, where Coote served as a support VAR official, with Michael Oliver as the main referee. It was allegedly filmed in a hotel room funded by UEFA.
UEFA addressed Coote’s previous conduct, stating: “The UEFA Referees Committee immediately suspended David Coote on November 11 upon learning of his inappropriate behavior.”
A PGMOL spokesperson added: “We are aware of the allegations and are treating them with the utmost seriousness. David Coote remains suspended pending a full investigation. His well-being remains a priority, and we are providing him with necessary support during this time. We have no further comment at this stage.”
