He announced his resignation in a letter shared on his official Instagram page on Thursday. Dated September 12, 2024, and addressed to the governor, Labaeka expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve but revealed that he had been unable to fulfill his duties effectively.
After serving for one year and seven months, he explained that he had not been provided with a clear outline of responsibilities.
Labaeka emphasized that his appointment was rooted in public trust, and continuing to draw a salary without contributing meaningfully would betray that trust.
His resignation letter reads: “With humility and gratitude, I write to tender my resignation as the Special Assistant, Artiste, in your administration. I have served in this role for 1 year and 7 months, and now wish to step down.
“On January 6, 2023, I accepted the appointment as Special Assistant, Artist, seeing it as a call to serve and an opportunity to showcase my abilities. Unfortunately, I have not been able to accomplish these goals. Without a defined schedule of duties, I have not had the chance to fully carry out my responsibilities.
“Since my role is based on public trust, I can no longer, in good conscience, accept a salary for doing nothing. As an Islamic cleric, this goes against my beliefs, and I have been at odds with myself.
“I request that my salary be stopped immediately. I remain grateful for the trust placed in me and hope that one day, I will be able to use my talents to contribute to the development of our state.”……Read Full Article
