The Inter Party Advisory Council, IPAC, Cross River State has suspended its chairman, Mr Edet Effiom indefinitely.
This followed a vote no confidence passed on him on Monday.
Independent findings showed that Effiom has been issuing letters to the authorities unilaterally and has allegedly garnered favours to himself alone.
Other findings alleged that the governor recently dispatched 400 bags of rice palliatives to the opposition party through his special adviser on inter party affairs, one Mrs Nkoyo, but she in connivance with Effiom, shared only 50 bags.
In a statement signed on behalf of chairmen of political parties in the state, IPAC Secretary, Frederick Eje Omari said the decision to suspend Effiom indefinitely was due largely to the fact that since his election, he has demonstrated, alleged high handedness, infantile leadership qualities and lack of capacity.
According to him, Effiom lacks capacity to consult and has poor communication skills, and utter lack of capacity.
“In short, he runs an elegant political infrastructure as a sole administrator contrary to our IPAC Code of Conduct.
“In the light of the aforementioned anomalies, the undersigned political parties have unanimously endorsed his indefinite suspension as IPAC Chairman and have therefore charged the Deputy Chairman, Rev Omaleko Efut of APGA to take charge in acting capacity with immediate effect.
“We have equally resolved to reposition IPAC to play her usual critical advisory role to the government, especially at this time, that the country and its subnationals are at a crossroads.”
Former gubernatorial candidate of Labour Party, LP, Ogar Osim and Publicity Secretary of PDP, Mike Ojisi were among the 16 opposition parties who signed the No Confidence Vote against Mr Edet Effiom.
Effiom denied all the accusations against him, alleging witch hunt by political enemies.
