The group, through its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, issued a statement on Monday condemning the assassination, which allegedly occurred near Ugwuoha’ s residence in Aba, Abia State.

IPOB asserts that Ugwuoha was murdered by agents allegedly hired by the Nigerian government with the aim of instilling fear and panic within IPOB members and their sympathizers.

In the statement, Emma Powerful explained that those behind the assassination sought to spread fear among IPOB supporters, but he emphasized that the group has long moved beyond the fear of death.

According to him, the actions of those responsible for Ugwuoha’ s death would not go unpunished. He added, ” Those responsible for this dastardly act have murdered sleep in their eyes because we won’ t leave them. ”

Powerful further stated that IPOB’ s intelligence unit, known as the M. Branch, has been tasked with identifying the perpetrators of the crime. He warned that appropriate retribution would be meted out to the ” soulless enemies and criminals” involved in the assassination.

While mourning the loss of Ugwuoha, he urged all IPOB members, including operatives of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) and IPOB volunteers, to take necessary security measures in the face of these ongoing threats from enemies.

He reassured the group that despite the current challenges, IPOB would remain resilient and continue to stand firm against their adversaries. Powerful emphasized that IPOB’ s struggle is peaceful, and they would not allow their enemies to divert them from that path. He reiterated that the Nigerian government and its provocateurs aim to incite IPOB into adopting violent means, but the group remains committed to peaceful resistance.

Powerful also promised that those responsible for Ugwuoha’ s assassination, as well as those who traumatized his family, would be identified and face appropriate retaliation. He declared that the principle of ” an eye for an eye” would be applied, stating, ” He who kills by the sword shall die by the sword. ”
