The much publicised football competition, which was specially designed to engage members of the Island All Stars Sports Club who are above 45 years old took place at the football pitch of prestigious Lagos Business School along Lekki/ Epe Express Way, Lagos.
The match drew lots of interest among members of the clubs who turned out in their numbers for the celebration, saw Team Real Tony Teks defeat Life Station by 1-0 in the tightly contested encounter. Ike Okoroafor cannot hide happiness over the perfect execution of the event which marked the beginning of the club’s end of the year activities.
Okoroafor says the flawless outcome of the events were all products of hardwork in planning and diligent execution of all details when speaking to Sports 247 after the Above 45 Football Competition.
Okoroafor who was very happy and spoke with lots of smiles in a chat with our correspondent, ” I am happy for the successful execution of our planning and.preparations ” Okoroafor begins.
” It’s a little bit stressful in planning, it takes a lot of hard work especially meeting up with those schedules that are time bound, but this is not the first time we are organising events like this, so it was interesting, fun and easy with the support of the members of the clubs as we gets better with every edition” Okoroafor confessed.
The bubbling and enterprising administrator of the club shares the secret behind the players’ fitness as they gave a good account of themselves despite the advancement in age.
” The secret behind the players’ fitness is happiness. We meet Every Thursday and Saturday, we come here to keep fit. we dont play football only , we do play Scrabble, Brisk walk , and many other games and physical activities to keep fit. meet each other for networking, social gathering, it makes the heart of pump the blood well, especially we need it more now, with the prevalent of sudden death” Says Okoroafor.
According to Okoroafor, the above 45 Football Competition marks the beginning of the All Stars Sports Club end of the year activities.
He confirmed that the Clubs league will commence in two weeks time where four clubs will participate in six weekends of super display of football artistry which will culminate into a memorable final day at the end of the year.

while the members of the club had a couple’s night celebration later in the evening .
