Reports indicate that armed robbery has been on the rise again in these Calabar South communities. On Sunday, Obong Ete, a landlord on Waddel Lane near Mbukpa Road, was apprehended by tenants after allegedly stealing from them. The tenants were permitted to take turns flogging him.

Reacting to the incidents, Irene Ugbo, the Public Relations Officer of the state police command, condemned the practice of jungle justice and urged residents to hand over all suspects to the police for proper interrogation and prosecution.
