The gang, which had reportedly terrorised Lagos and its environs, was decimated in a dramatic encounter with police operatives.
In a shocking twist, among the nine kidnappers killed was Prince Henry Ode, a popular Nollywood actor and producer based in Port Harcourt.
The executives, during their visit, lauded the commissioner and his team for their efforts in restoring safety to the area.
They presented Fayoade with a certificate of commendation, promising their continued cooperation in the fight against violent crimes in the state.
Their visit underscored the significant impact the police operation has had on local businesses and the community.
The operation, which took place at the bustling Ladipo auto spare parts market, involved a fierce shootout as the kidnappers reportedly attempted to abduct a wealthy businessman.
Among the items recovered from the scene were two luxury vehicles, a Lexus 350 Jeep and a 4-Runner Jeep, both registered in the name of Prince Henry Ode.
Additionally, mobile phones and other personal items linked to the actor were found, confirming his involvement in criminal activities, according to the police.
It was gathered that further investigations revealed more about the gang members’ identities, with one of the deceased identified as a twin whose brother has since fled.
Information from a WhatsApp user has helped detectives to identify five of the kidnappers, some of whom were known in the local community for their extravagant lifestyles.
According to the police, efforts to apprehend the remaining gang members are ongoing, with leads pointing to northern cities and known hangouts in Lagos.
The police also detained the owner of a popular bar frequented by the gang.
Police sources revealed that the gang’s ability to evade capture was partly due to their use of military uniforms, allowing them to pass through police checkpoints undetected.
These uniforms were among the items recovered from their vehicles after the encounter.
According to the market executives, the police operation had an immediate positive effect on the local business environment as hoteliers and other businessmen reported a surge in customers, who now feel safer going out at night.
Meanwhile, Fayoade has reassured residents that the police remain committed to stamping out criminal elements and ensuring the safety of all residents of Lagos.
