The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has denied suspending any member in any part of the state, as being reported.
APC Publicity Secretary in the state, Mr Seye Oladejo, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Lagos.
“Our attention has been drawn to the fake news making the rounds about the purported suspension of thousands of party members in Alimosho Local Government by the State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi.
“We wish to state unequivocally that there’s no truth in the allegation,” he said.
According to him, Ojelabi remains committed to the unity of the party and acts that will engender peaceful co-existence of all members.
“APC as a political party, made up of members with different aspirations, naturally has its fair share of wrangling and suspicions that can always be resolved within the framework of its constitutional provisions.
“The chairman as an experienced individual in party politics and governance is always prepared to bend backwards to accommodate all opinions without trampling on the rights of others,” he said.
Oladejo said that the chairman, however, strongly believed that the interests of caucuses should not over-ride that of the party.
He said that the interest of the party remained cohesion among members and ensuring that party leaders act as checks to elected and appointed officials in government as regards service delivery.
Oladejo said: “There’s no provision in the party’s constitution that can be invoked for the chairman to unilaterally suspend a member.
“Members of the public are hereby advised to ignore statements that are designed to create an imaginary conflict and deliberate falsehood that are basically self-serving.”
Recall that some party members in Alimosho had, during a protest at the party secretariat recently, attempted to manhandle and beat up the party chairman, before the intervention of security agents.
The protesters were allegedly angry that members of the caucus they belonged to were not recognized at a meeting convened by Ojelabi to reconcile disagreeing groups in the local government area.

No fewer than 39 people have been killed in the clash between student protesters and riot police in Bangladesh, including 32 people killed on Thursday.
Also, 104 police personnel and 30 journalists have reportedly been injured in the clashes caused by the protesters calling for an end to a quota system that reserves over half of civil service posts for specific groups in the country, AFP reports.
AFP reports that Bangladesh woke up on Friday to survey destruction left by the deadliest day of the protests on Thursday which left several government buildings destroyed by the protesters.
The destruction has also led to a nationwide internet blackout in the country.
This week alone, at least 39 people have been killed including 32 people killed on Thursday, with the toll expected to rise further after reports of clashes in nearly half of the country’s 64 districts.
A police statement issued after a near-total shutdown of the nation’s internet said protesters had torched, vandalised and carried out “destructive activities” on numerous police and government offices.
Among them was the Dhaka headquarters of state broadcaster Bangladesh Television, which remained offline after hundreds of incensed students stormed the premises and set fire to a building.
“About 100 policemen were injured in the clashes yesterday,” Faruk Hossain, a spokesman for the capital’s police force told AFP. “Around 50 police booths were burnt.”
The statement added that if the destruction continued, they would “be forced to make maximum use of law”.
Police fire was reportedly the cause of at least two-thirds of deaths reported so far, based on descriptions given to AFP by hospital staff.
At least 26 districts around the country reported clashes on Thursday, broadcaster Independent Television reported.
The network said more than 700 had been wounded through the day including 104 police officers and 30 journalists.
Near-daily marches this month have called for an end to a quota system that reserves more than half of civil service posts for specific groups, including children of veterans from the country’s 1971 liberation war against Pakistan.
Critics say the scheme benefits children of pro-government groups that back Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, 76, who has ruled the country since 2009 and won her fourth consecutive election in January after a vote without genuine opposition.
Hasina’s government is accused by rights groups of misusing state institutions to entrench its hold on power and stamp out dissent, including by the extrajudicial killing of opposition activists.
Her administration this week ordered schools and universities to close indefinitely as police step up efforts to bring the deteriorating law and order situation under control.
Students have vowed to continue their campaign despite Hasina giving a national address on the now-offline state broadcaster seeking to calm the situation.
“Our first demand is that the prime minister must apologise to us,” protester Bidisha Rimjhim, 18, told AFP on Thursday.
“Secondly, justice must be ensured for our killed brothers,” she added. ...Click Here To Continue Reading>>

The Director-General, Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), Mr. Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, who spoke on behalf on the body, however, commended the federal government over the approval of the new minimum wage, urging it to put in place reforms that would strengthen private sector to be able to pay.
“While we commend the president for putting to rest the immediate issue of the National Minimum Wage, we also note, most importantly his commitment to support the sub-nationals and the organised private sector to pay the new wage,” he said.
The NECA DG noted that during the consultations with the National Minimum Wage Committee, the OPS expressed concern about its ability to pay the N62,000 recommended by the tripartite committee.
“In fact, the N62,000 was premised on the understanding and agreement by the government representatives that the government will take definite steps to reduce the current economic burden on the organized private sector,” he said.
He pleaded with the federal government to reverse the increase in electricity tariffs, ensure CBN redemption of all outstanding forwards for companies in the productive sector, put a freeze on introduction of new taxes and levies on businesses for the next five years, and provide a duty exemption on imported conversion kits and government subsidy on procurement of same.
“It should be noted that the ability to pay remains a fundamental consideration. The proposed support by the president to organised businesses should be immediately announced to enable businesses to plan effectively,” he said ...Click Here To Continue Reading>>

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three clerics identified as Aliyu Musa, Aliyu Taiye, and Wasiu Babatunde for allegedly exhuming the corpse of a one-year-old boy, Taiwo Bisiriyu and using his remains for ritual purposes in Omi-ifon in Odigbo Local Government area of the State....Click Here To Continue Reading>>
The incident which happened last Tuesday, July 9, generated mixed reactions among residents in the area.
According to the state-owned newspaper, The Hope, Taiwo died on Friday, July 5, 2024, and was buried the same day, while the clerics officiated at the burial.
Residents who spoke with the publication alleged that some of the items found in the clerics’ homes, included a pestle and a mortal, concoction, sponge, and black pot, among others.
Narrating her ordeal, the deceased’s guardian identified as Risikat Bisiriyu said: “The boy was ill and I took him to a Maternity Centre for treatment. He was later referred to the General Hospital in Ore. But on getting there, the boy died,”
“I wept bitterly which attracted the attention of residents in the area. Since we are Moslems by religion, we decided to bury the boy the same day, and we invited the clerics to officiate.
“When we got to where the boy would be buried, one of the clerics who carried the corpse went far into the bush to bury him. But the younger brother of the deceased’s father insisted he should bury the child at a particular place, not far inside the bush.
“The child died on Friday. So, on Monday, around 10 am, we were sitting outside the house, when the wife of one of the clerics came and told us that she didn’t know what her husband brought into the house that was smelling. But we paid no attention to what she said
“About 11pm on Monday, we began to hear the cleric pounding some things till 4.30am. I jokingly said only God knows what he was pounding all through the night that disturbed our sleep.
“The following day, when I arrived home from the market, the wife of the cleric approached me again and said she was suspicious that it was the corpse of Taiwo, that just died, that her husband was pounding. But I told her to keep quiet. I informed the younger brother of the deceased’s father. And he replied that he also heard about it. So, we became suspicious.
“We went to the child’s grave and discovered that it was scattered
“With the permission of the Imam in the area, we exhumed the corpse and found out that the head and hands of the child had been cut off.”
It was gathered that the matter was later reported to the police in Odigbo, and they were arrested.
The police dragged the suspects before the Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Odigbo. The trio were charged with misdemeanour and felony.
Prosecutor James Usifo told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offence on July 5 and July 9, 2024, at Alagbado Street, Omifon, via Odigbo, Ondo State.
Usifo stated that the trio unlawfully and improperly exhumed the dead body of one Taiwo Bisiriyu, by cutting off his head and two of his palms.
He also alleged that the defendants unlawfully had fetish or criminal charms in their possession.
The offences, according to the charge, contravene 517 and 516A(1), 242(1)(b), 213(b) of the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State, 2006.
Usifo prayed the court to grant him a date to study the case file and prepare his witnesses for trial.
The defence counsel, Mr H. A. Ogiren, did not oppose the application made by the prosecutor. He prayed the court to grant the defendants bail in the most liberal terms.
However, the Prosecutor opposed the bail application moved by the defence counsel, based on the gravity of the offence.
Magistrate Festus Akinlolu reserved her ruling on the bail till August 26. ...Click Here To Continue Reading>>

The driver tries to smack the punch away, with Dasaur shifting the weapon to his left hand as he appears to berate the driver while pointing at them repeatedly with his right hand.
The driver then points their own gun at Dasaur, firing repeatedly as the 29-year-old falls to the ground.
The seven-second video capturing the chaos ends with the person filming the exchange taking cover in their own car.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said the shooting broke out at around 8:15 p.m. near the intersection of South Emerson Avenue and Thompson Road.
Witnesses told police that the shooting occurred over a road rage incident between the Chevy driver and Dasaur, who was driving a black Honda, local WTHR reports.
The driver of the pickup truck was initially detained but later released after investigators found that the driver may have been acting in self-defence.
Cinthya ZaMora, Dasaur’s wife, condemned the shooting as she grieved her husband’s death.
“He was a hardworking man that always went out of his way to help anyone and wanted to give the world to me and his family,” she told the local outlet.

The exchange occurred during a heated debate on a bill to establish the National Road Transport Council.
The bill, sponsored by Deputy Senate Leader Senator Oyelola Ashiru (APC, Kwara South), aimed to regulate the road transport industry.
While some senators supported the bill, others, including Senators Victor Umeh and Adams Oshiomhole (APC, Edo North), opposed it, citing concerns about duplicating existing agencies’ functions.
As the debate intensified, Senator Akpabio called for a voice vote, which resulted in a split decision.
Senator Natasha, who had earlier suggested considering water transportation, stood up without permission to seek clarification.
She said, “Mr President, we don’t want the bill to be killed, we just want a bit of clarification. We don’t want the bill killed, but it should be slightly modified.”

JUST IN: We only accepted N70,000 as minimum wage with mixed feelings – Ajaero
![](https://abilitydigitalz.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/We-accepted-N70-000-as-minimum-wage-with-mixed-feelings-–-Ajaero-operanewsapp.png)
Comrade Joe Ajaero, president of the Nigerian Labour Congress, says organised labour accepted the N70,000 minimum wage proposed by President Bola Tinubu with mixed feelings....Click Here To Continue Reading>>
The leadership of the Organised Labour had signed after President Tinubu okayed N70,000 national minimum wage at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja on Thursday.
Thursday’s meeting came a week after the first meeting the President had with the Labour leaders last week.
The new minimum wage when approved by the National Assembly will replace the N30,000 minimum wage which expired on April 18, 2024
Speaking moments after President Bola Tinubu agreed to pay N70000 as new minimum wage, Joe Ajaero said the organized labour accepted the offer with mixed feelings as a result of the prevailing economic circumstances.
Ajaero said: “Well, we’re here last week and we’re here now. What have been announced in terms of the amount of N70,000 happened to be where we are now. But the good thing about it is that we will not wait for another five years to come on review.
“Rather, than settling on a figure that we wait for five years, is like we’ll have to now negotiate even two times within five years, with a view to going up. That is one of the reasons you know why we decided to reach where we are today because of the proviso that ‘you can review in the next three years.
“The other one, we came with other issues in the basket, like the issue of SSANU, NASU and others, especially with the affront by the Commissioner of Police FCT, we brought it to Mr. President and talked on the need for that matter to be addressed.
“And magnanimously he asked the agencies concerned to work out the modalities for the payment of those workers in the universities.”
Ajaero said that the President promise some incentives like the CNG which will lessen the burden that the Nigerian workers are passing through, but you can see that we are taking this with mix filling because of the situation of the of the economy.
“But we have to move ahead despite the situation, and the negotiation can’t linger coming from N62,000 to N70,000 and then with the proviso that we are coming back soon to negotiate it.
“We’re taking it back to our constituency to see how they can get a buy in. So that’s what has transpired this afternoon except there’s another question.”
TUC President, Comrade Festus Osifo who also spoke, noted that, “yes, just as been said by the three previous speakers, the Minister of Information Minister of state labour as well as the NLC President, they’ve laid the accounts of what transpired in today’s meeting.
“The President made a pronouncement or announcement of N70,000. That by next week, they should put finishing touches to the bill and do the transmission to the National Assembly
“But why this became a catch is actually because we from the organized labour, we have been pushing that the issue of five years review is to me so much, that a lot a lot of economic indices may have changed, because we are in an era where things are moving very fast in terms of both macro, and micro economic policies.
“But with also the caveat that this is going to be done every three years. The next review will be in three years. And after that, pronouncement, we from labour just as has been said, we have received what the President has promised from both ends.
“And as he said, said, we made a case for both the SSANU and NASU, that the President should, as a father of the nation, look at it compassionately, and do the needful, so that we will not have a case where the universities would be closed again.
“That is actually a problem because it is your children, my brothers that attend these universities. I’m not sure that the kids of the bourgeoisie like those standing behind us, whether they attend these universities, we don’t know.
“So, at the end, he said he was going to look at it and that they should report back to him as has been reported. So we are quite excited with that because for us, anything that will keep the university shutdown, we will not allow it to happen. we will do everything possible to ensure that the issues are resolved amicably. So, we are waiting for the final outcome of that.
“Then also the issue of student loan as well, we commended the president for that. but we said that the money should get to the people that are targeted. that the student loan should get to the people that are targeted, not a situation where the children of the rich are also able to access the student loan.
“That the parameter be put in place so that the children of the poor, those that cannot actually afford school fees should be the target and they also said they will look at it as well.” ...Click Here To Continue Reading>>

“An Igbo Man Got BLord Arrested, He Might Be Jailed For 15 Years” – VeryDarkMan [Video]
Blord was arrested by the police for alleged cryptocurrency fraud, aiding internet fraud, computer-related fraud, terrorism funding, and not complying with regulations.
In a video shared on his Instagram page, VeryDarkMan clarified that he wasn’t behind Blord’s arrest, stressing that other influential people were involved.
He claimed that Blord, who wasn’t running a legitimate business, should have stayed under the radar and criticized Blord for using his apps to hide illegal activities.
VeryDarkMan recounted that when he complained about Blord’s app on social media, the tech guru insulted him.
The social media critic said that when he tried to share helpful information, he was arrested for a different issue.
After being released, VeryDarkMan said he found out that Blord had posted insulting remarks about him online, which prompted him to report Blord to the police.
At the police station, VeryDarkMan discovered that another wealthy Igbo man had also filed a serious complaint against Blord, leading to his arrest.
He said that Blord initially boasted about his influence but quieted down when confronted with the evidence, which could result in a 15-year prison sentence.
VeryDarkMan suggested that if Blord hadn’t insulted him online, he might have offered advice to help the billionaire.
Sharing the video, he wrote: “Na one of him Igbo brothers kuku draw him map, never underestimate anyone,I pray God helps him ooo if not hmmm baba will be away for a long time and I mean very long time, make God sha help am….
