Man arrested by Police for alleged patricide in Niger

The spokesperson of the command, SP Waisu Abiodun, said in Minna on Tuesday that the incident was reported at the Kpakungu police division.

He said, ” On Tuesday, at about 10 a.m, information was received at the Kpakungu division that on Monday, one Abubakar Adawa, was missing from his house in the Barkin-Sale area of Minna.’

Abiodun said police operatives attached to the division led by the Divisional Police Officer visited the house and one Mizanmil Abubakar 29, and Aisha Abubakar, the mother and son were invited for interrogation.

He said,,’The whole compound was thoroughly searched, and surprisingly, the severed body of the missing person was discovered buried in a shallow grave within the compound.”

Abiodun said he had confessed to being responsible for the gruesome murder of his father, saying that the deceased hated him.

The spokesperson said the suspect confessed that he used a hoe to kill and sever the victim into parts before burying him in a shallow grave within the compound.

He said preliminary investigation was ongoing at the division and the suspect would soon be transferred to SCID Minna for further investigation and prosecution.
