Modupe stated that her husband physically assaulted her after she accused him of having affairs with two church members, leading to her hospitalization after she lost consciousness during one of the beatings. According to her, their marriage, which has produced five children, began to deteriorate when she separately accused him of romantic involvement with church members.

She claimed that after making these accusations, her husband slapped and beat her, and she was subsequently hospitalized. The conflict escalated when Modupe discovered she had contracted an infection from her husband. When she confronted him about it, he admitted experiencing similar symptoms.

A nurse treated them both and later informed Modupe that a female church member had been treated for the same infection, revealing the romantic affair. Their relationship further deteriorated when Modupe accused her husband of another affair with a different church member the following year. She said, “He slapped me and pressed my neck till I fainted. I woke up with water all over my body. I also saw that people had gathered around me. He kept saying I had overstayed in the house and he wanted me to leave, whereas it was not only his money we used to build the property. I also contributed my money when we started building the property and the church.

The fiance of this church member learned about the affair and informed other church members, leading some to stop attending the church. In response, her husband accused Modupe of influencing these departures with her allegations and ordered her to leave their home. Despite her initial refusal, she eventually left for her safety, returning briefly for the festive period in December 2023. Upon her return, her husband locked her in a room for two hours. Modupe returned again in January 2024, but in April, after assisting with a delivery at their home, her husband allegedly attacked her, causing her to faint. She recounted that he slapped her and pressed her neck until she lost consciousness. When she regained consciousness, she found herself wet with water and surrounded by people. She then left the house to seek medical treatment, spending a week in the hospital and continuing to receive outpatient care. Akintunde denied the allegations, claiming that Modupe had tried to harm him and that he had evidence to support his claims. He asserted that she once threatened to injure his private parts.

He also mentioned that they had reported the case to the Epe Division and that the case was scheduled to be heard in court, but Modupe and her family did not attend the hearing. Regarding the infidelity allegations, Akintunde stated that as a pastor, his wife bullied everyone she saw him with. He reiterated his desire to divorce her and claimed that the case was already in court. He also denied infecting her with an infection, attributing her claims to mental instability He said, “I didn’t attack her, she was the one who wanted to injure and kill me on that day and I have my evidence. She wanted to cut my private parts. She once told me that if my organ is not working for her, it wont work for anybody again. “She reported the case at the Epe Division; she should sue me in court, I have my evidence.

We went to the Epe Division and when we were asked to meet at the court on Monday, May 6, 2024, I went there but she and her family members didn’t come.” Regarding infidelity allegations with female church members, Akintunde said, “I am a pastor and I have a congregation and she used to bully everyone that she saw me with. I wanted to divorce her and she had already packed her load out of the house but she later returned her load. “She is not well. Thank God the nurse is still alive. She is going beyond her capacity. If not for our children, I would have taken her to a criminal court. I want to divorce her and the case is already in court. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the case had been charged to court based on evidence. that Akintunde assaulted his wife. The case was officially charged last Thursday
