The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, is looking to bring in a local coach on an interim basis for the Super Eagles.

The coach will take charge of the national team for the next 2025 AFCON qualifiers in September, according to OgaNla Media.

The Eagles have been without a substantive coach since Finidi George stepped down from the role.

Last week, the NFF Technical Director, Austin Eguaveon, claimed they would announce a new man in charge this week.

Over the weekend, there were speculations that Janne Andersson had gotten the job. 

However, it seems a deal for a permanent coach might not be sealed before Nigeria host Benin on September 7 and travel to Rwanda three days later.
