Ado Musa, an aide to one of the Northern governors, commented on the situation, stating, “It’s unhealthy for an appointed minister to act as though he has authority over elected governors.
It’s time for measures to be taken to either caution or remove Wike.” The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) is set to meet tomorrow in Abuja to address the issue.
This meeting will also examine the role of the NGF Chairman, Kwara State’s AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, particularly regarding his stance on local government autonomy.
The Northern governors’ support for Fubara marks a significant turn in this dispute, as South-South governors have previously indicated they may boycott NGF and National Economic Council meetings unless Wike is cautioned or removed.
The upcoming NGF meeting aims to find a resolution to the conflicts within the Rivers State political landscape and the ongoing impeachment attempt against Governor Fubara.
