Under the revised pricing, a 32-page passport booklet with a five-year validity will now cost N50,000, up from the previous N35,000. Similarly, the 64-page passport booklet with a 10-year validity will see its fee rise from N70,000 to N100,000.
The NIS explained that the fee hike is part of ongoing efforts to maintain the quality and integrity of the Nigerian standard passport. However, the statement noted that passport fees for Nigerians living abroad would remain unchanged.
“We regret any inconvenience this development may cause prospective applicants,” the statement read, while also assuring the public of the agency’s commitment to transparency and quality service delivery.
