In a video, Leke stated that any pay rise for Christians must be paid as the first fruit increase.
He stated that the contribution does not count toward the impacted Christians’ monthly tithe of 10%.

He went on: ” First fruit increase, first fruit sacrifice are two different things.
” One is donating the increment you receive as an offering. So, if you were paid N500 last year and it increased to N501 in January or any other time during the year, you provide that N1 as an increment.

” You will tithe your regular N500 and pay 10%, which equals N50, but you will only give the N1 as the first fruit increase. The first fruit sacrifice is the whole January sacrifice of your salary. ”

A lot of people have attacked Leke Adeboye’ s following his speech, someone said; ” Kai! Pentecostal has reduced Christianity to collection and payment of tithes. No more preaching of salvation of the soul. Mumu Nigerians, when they give you your salary, go and give it to them. Your mumu never do” .
Another person wrote; ” Look at this boy who hasn’ t done any formal job in his life than to pastor a branch of the church where’ s father is the G O talking nonsense. You would have been in the unemployment market if your father isn’ t a G. O, rubbish” .

Someone else said; ” A stupid advice indeed, brainwashing millions of Nigerians in the name of salvation, does salvation come from offering and tithes? Like father like son, very soon people will start stoning this church leaders and their families BCS they have hypnotised many people around the world” .
