At Wednesday’ s joint session of the National Assembly marking the Silver Jubilee Of Nigeria’ s 4th Republic, Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the change of the national anthem.
Reacting to this, Mike Ozekhome, a renown lawyer and human rights activist, said: “The change of the national anthem is long overdue. The name Nigeria and the flag should also be changed.
Commenters also gave their two cents as they drew attention to the President of African Development Bank Group, Dr Akinwumi Adesina, who had in March 2024 called for a change of name from the Federal Republic of Nigeria to’ The United States of Nigeria.
