In a statement released on July 22, 2024, the group’s National Chairman, Comrade Munnir Shehu, expressed deep concerns about the potential consequences of such demonstrations.
Shehu emphasized the group’s belief that the planned protests pose a significant threat to Nigeria’s stability, unity, and progress. He warned that such actions could potentially plunge the country into chaos, drawing parallels to the destabilization seen in other nations experiencing similar unrest.
The chairman stated firmly, “Let it be known that if these protests proceed, we will mobilize massively across the country to defend our rights and the integrity of Nigeria.” He described the proposed protests as not only unproductive but also dangerously destabilizing, risking severe harm to all citizens, particularly the physically challenged community who are often most vulnerable during times of unrest.
Shehu highlighted the specific risks faced by physically challenged traders.
