According to Barrister Fage, the lack of education and awareness among these youths significantly contributed to their actions, which he views as misguided and potentially harmful.

In contrast, Barrister Fage noted that youths in Southern Nigeria did not engage in similar displays, a difference he attributes to the higher levels of education and understanding prevalent in the South. He suggested that the education these Southern youths received has equipped them with the knowledge to comprehend the broader implications of such actions, thereby preventing them from participating in activities that could be seen as unpatriotic or destabilizing.

The governors of Nasarawa and Kaduna states have echoed Barrister Fage’ s concerns, identifying the lack of education as a significant factor behind the Northern youths’ actions during the protests. They have called for a renewed focus on improving educational standards in the region to prevent such occurrences in the future.

During an interview in Kano, Barrister Fage stressed the importance of education in guiding the youth away from ignorance and towards more constructive engagement with society. He urged governments and stakeholders to prioritize the provision of quality education for all young people, especially in underserved regions. Furthermore, he called on wealthy individuals to support initiatives that enable underprivileged children to access quality education, thus fostering greater social equity and stability.

In addition to advocating for educational reforms, Barrister Fage called for the arrest and prosecution of those who exploited innocent teenagers by coercing them into displaying the Russian flag during the protests. He emphasized that such actions are not only punishable under Nigerian law but could also be interpreted as an attempt to solicit foreign intervention, which poses a threat to Nigeria’ s sovereignty.

” Nigeria is a sovereign country, ” Barrister Fage stated firmly. ” Those responsible for flying the Russian flag during the nationwide hunger protests must be held accountable to serve as a deterrent to others. ”
