Speaking out against this development in Port Harcourt on Sunday, Chief Tony Okocha, the caretaker committee chairman of Rivers state’s All Progressives Congress (APC), pointed fingers at these political losers, questioning their sportsmanship and patriotism.
“These organizers are well-known for their repeated electoral failures,” Okocha stated. He cautioned against the dangers of such protests, citing examples from countries like Sudan, urging restraint to prevent any disruption of peace and harm to innocent Nigerians.
Highlighting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s efforts amidst Nigeria’s economic challenges, Okocha emphasized proactive government measures. These include the establishment of a national credit corporation to bolster consumption credit across the country. Furthermore, substantial palliatives, including 740 trucks of rice, have been distributed nationwide, aiming to alleviate immediate hardships.
Okocha underscored the significant investments in agriculture by both federal and state governments to ramp up food production. He noted positive economic indicators, such as increased revenue generation by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and a reduction in national debt in dollar terms.
