Controversial Kaduna- based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has asserted that bandits can be traced similarly to how individuals track down people they wish to meet. Gumi made the observation during the discussion that when people approach bandits in the role of preachers or negotiators, they frequently open their hearts and show a desire to have a discourse.
He maintained that this strategy might result in fruitful discussions that persuade people to give up their illegal activity.
Gumi said; ” People shouldn’ t talk like that. This is not smart. Do you inquire as to how you are able to see people, for example, if you are in Lagos or Ogun State? These individuals are Nigerians, and it is easy to track them down through their family.
” When approached as a negotiator or preacher, they open up. So, they can be addressed and persuaded. The question is, why isn’ t the government adopting that course? Well, I can claim that the current government has learned from the past.
” The only thing I think is lacking here is that the talking is too much. If you stand on the right side, then we will get results” , he concluded.
A lot of people have reacted to this, someone said; ” That means they have stopped giving him his own share, as their chairman and managing director. He wants to expose them and scatter everything” .
Another person wrote; ” They are killing your children and perhaps your money making mercineries. it is obvious you are feeling sad, hopefully you will receive your rewards for supporting bandits and kidnappers on this earth” .
