Activist and member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Aisha Yesufu, has called on her supporters to direct their attention exclusively toward the 2027 presidential election and efforts aimed at securing victory for the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Yesufu made the remarks in a message shared on Thursday through her X account, where she urged supporters to avoid engaging in conversations she considers unrelated to the party’s broader political objective.
According to her statement, supporters should maintain focus on campaign mobilisation and activities connected to Obi’s presidential ambition rather than respond to political distractions or ongoing debates.
“My dear supporters, remember, we have moved on and focused on the bigger picture,” she wrote.
She added that discussions not connected to “the 2027 presidential election and how to get Peter Obi elected and sworn into office” should be ignored for now, suggesting that other issues could be revisited after the election cycle if necessary.
The comments come at a time of increasing political positioning ahead of the next general election, with political actors and support groups beginning early mobilisation efforts.
Yesufu, who has been publicly associated with support for Obi, also recently participated in internal party activities and contested for the Federal Capital Territory senatorial ticket during the NDC primary process but did not emerge as the candidate.
