The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has said it participated in a civil society engagement held in Washington, D.C., where concerns over security, human rights, and governance issues in Nigeria were discussed.

According to the statement, the delegation was led by the head of IPOB’s 4th Directorate of State, Chris Nwaogu, alongside legal counsel Mike Arnold, Dr. Green, and other representatives.
IPOB stated that the meeting brought together members of the U.S. Congress, policy experts, faith leaders, and civil society stakeholders to discuss developments in Nigeria.
The group said discussions focused on insecurity, attacks on Christian communities, concerns over vulnerable ethnic populations, and the need for greater international engagement.
During the engagement, IPOB said it also highlighted the continued detention of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, raising concerns over the circumstances surrounding his rendition and broader issues relating to due process and human rights.
According to the group, Kanu’s case remains central to conversations around the rule of law and judicial accountability in Nigeria.
IPOB reiterated its position that it seeks what it described as a peaceful, democratic and internationally recognised approach to addressing the Biafra question through dialogue and self-determination.
The organisation expressed appreciation to the event organisers and participants for what it called growing attention to challenges facing communities in Nigeria.
