“I will put fire in your State” — Oyo Kidnappings: Fayose Alleges Threat by Wike, Calls for Arrest

Political commentator Isaac Fayose has sparked controversy after a viral video in which he called for an investigation into the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, alleging that comments attributed to him may be connected to recent insecurity incidents in Oyo State.

Fayose made the remarks while reacting to the kidnapping of schoolchildren and teachers in parts of the state, an incident that has drawn widespread national concern and condemnation.

Allegations From Viral Video

In the video, Fayose referenced statements he attributed to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, claiming that the minister had previously made remarks suggesting possible violence in the state.

He said:

“Wike said, and I quote, he said, ‘I will put fire in your state, Governor Seyi Makinde, I will put fire in Oyo state’.”

Fayose also alleged a possible timeline connection between political events in the state and the abduction incident, suggesting that the timing raised questions that authorities should investigate.

He further referenced what he described as another recent comment allegedly linked to political tensions involving Governor Seyi Makinde.

Claims Linking Politics and Insecurity

Fayose went on to suggest what he described as a pattern of political threats and insecurity, though he did not provide evidence to substantiate the claims.

He also referenced past insecurity in Rivers State during Wike’s tenure as governor, alleging that kidnapping incidents were significant at the time.

According to him:

“That same Rivers State, when Wike was Governor, the kidnapping there passed the whole kidnapping within Nigeria at the time.”

The claims remain unverified, and no official authority has confirmed any link between political statements and the Oyo State abduction incidents.

Call for Investigation

Fayose urged security agencies to look into the matter, arguing that alleged threats should not be ignored in light of recent violent attacks involving students and teachers.

He stated that if Nigeria’s law enforcement system were fully effective, the matter would already have attracted official questioning.

Authorities, including the police and the Department of State Services (DSS), have not publicly responded to the claims at the time of filing this report.

The Oyo kidnapping incident remains under investigation as security agencies continue efforts to rescue victims and apprehend those responsible.
