Chelsea’s struggles continued on Saturday night as they suffered a fourth straight Premier League defeat, losing 1-0 to Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.

The result leaves Chelsea in sixth place, with the gap to fifth-placed Liverpool potentially stretching to seven points if they beat Everton in the Merseyside derby.

Rosenior, who replaced Enzo Maresca in January, has already come under pressure from sections of the club’s supporters following a poor run of form.

Despite this, Hoddle believes the club will continue to back the 41-year-old through the remainder of the season and into the next campaign. Speaking on Premier League Productions, he suggested the club sees Rosenior as part of a long-term project.

“They’re in a difficult situation,” Hoddle said, adding that the manager is likely to be given time to finish the season. However, he stressed that results must improve, noting that securing wins before the campaign ends is crucial.

He also pointed out that even if Chelsea fail to qualify for the Champions League, they still have a chance to win silverware as they remain in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Lookman found the net during Atletico Madrid’s clash with Real Sociedad, although the encounter ended in a 3-2 penalty shootout defeat for his side after a 2-2 draw in regulation time on Saturday. The final was held at Estadio de La Cartuja.

The Nigerian international struck with a precise left-footed effort from the edge of the box, sending the ball into the bottom corner to restore parity for Atletico Madrid.

Sociedad had taken an early lead through Ander Barrenetxea in the opening minute, but Lookman responded swiftly with the equaliser. The advantage swung again before halftime when captain Mikel Oyarzabal converted from the penalty spot.
