Borno Troops Rescue 53 Civilians From ISWAP Roadblock
Military forces operating under the Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, successfully neutralized an insurgent-led roadblock in Borno State on Wednesday, securing the release of 53 civilians. The operation, which took place along the Buratai–Kamuya road in the Biu Local Government Area, also resulted in the recovery of eight vehicles reportedly seized by the insurgents.

Upon the arrival of military units, the insurgents abandoned their position and retreated toward the Mangari–Dora axis. A brief firefight ensued, forcing the suspects to flee the area and abandon their captives and stolen property.
“The Theatre Command OPHK commends the professionalism and swift response of the troops,” stated Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer, in a report issued on June 25.
Following the engagement, the military conducted a thorough sweep of the insurgents’ withdrawal route to ensure the area was secure. No further hostile contacts were reported during the follow-up operations.
All 53 rescued civilians, along with the recovered vehicles, have been safely relocated to Buratai. The victims are currently undergoing standard documentation and medical screenings.
While the military reports that the security situation in the region has stabilized, they have urged local residents to remain vigilant.
