Bandits Kidnap Another Kwara Monarch

Armed bandits have kidnapped Oba Salman Olátúnjí Aweda, the traditional ruler of Olayinka community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The abduction reportedly took place in the early hours of Saturday when about 10 gunmen invaded the monarch’s palace around midnight, taking him away along with another individual.
Residents disclosed that the attackers are demanding a ransom of ₦400 million for the monarch’s release.
Sources further revealed that the second victim was later tied to a tree in the bush after he complained of exhaustion and challenged the abductors to kill him.
Reacting to the incident, the Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government Area, Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, visited the community on Saturday morning, assuring residents that efforts were ongoing to secure the monarch’s freedom.
“We are deeply worried about this development and are already taking swift, coordinated steps with security agencies,” he said.
Yusuf added that security personnel, supported by forest guards and local vigilantes, have intensified search efforts in surrounding areas to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted ruler.
