Tension has enveloped Federal Government College Ikot Ekpene in Akwa Ibom State following the death of a 12-year-old student, Ufokobong Edwin Godwin, who reportedly suffered injuries linked to alleged bullying by a senior student.

The deceased, a Junior Secondary School 2 student, was said to have been attacked prior to the Easter break by a Senior Secondary School 3 student after refusing to share his provisions during the examination period.

Accounts from fellow students indicate that the confrontation turned violent, with the senior student allegedly striking the younger boy on the neck. One student claimed the victim collapsed and slipped into a coma after the assault.

The boy was reportedly taken to the hospital on Easter Sunday, where he later died. Medical personnel were said to have attributed his death to complications arising from blood clots around the neck area.

Sources said the student had earlier regained consciousness and returned to school before the holiday, with his parents allegedly unaware of the incident when they picked him up at the close of term.

Another account alleged that the assault involved repeated blows to the neck, causing the victim to faint multiple times before other students raised the alarm.

After returning home for the holiday, the boy reportedly complained persistently of severe neck pain. Family sources said he repeatedly cried out in distress, prompting his parents to initially administer pain relief medication.

However, as his condition worsened, he was rushed to the hospital by his father, where he eventually died.

The school principal, Jude Ezeogu, confirmed the incident and described the development as tragic, noting that the school community is in mourning.

He added that the school management committee would convene to review the circumstances surrounding the incident and provide further clarification.

Meanwhile, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command said it is yet to issue a detailed statement, with spokesperson Timfon John indicating that the matter is being verified.

The family of the deceased has called on the Federal Government to investigate the case and ensure justice is served. The boy’s father, who spoke briefly, appealed for intervention, saying he would provide more details at the appropriate time.

A dramatic scene unfolded at a funeral in Veracruz, where two women were captured on video fighting over a coffin after reportedly discovering they had both been romantically involved with the deceased.

The altercation occurred during the wake, as emotions escalated when one of the women allegedly expressed affection for the late man, raising suspicion from the other mourner present.

Entrepreneur and content creator Dedun Oluwo has opened up about a painful personal experience, revealing how an incident on Easter Sunday in April 2021 marked a turning point in her marriage.

Speaking during a conversation with media host Chude, Oluwo recounted how she spent the entire day alone at home while her husband claimed he was at church. According to her, she prepared meals throughout the day—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—while waiting for his return, but he remained absent for hours.

She explained that when he eventually arrived, there was little interaction between them, as he reportedly ate his meal separately and went straight to bed. Oluwo said the situation left her emotionally overwhelmed, having waited all day without meaningful communication.

Recounting the events of that night, she said she initially tried to reach out to him by sending a message on his phone to avoid a confrontation, but the message failed to deliver. This raised concerns and led her to remain in the living room for several hours.

By the early hours of the morning, around 4 a.m., Oluwo said she picked up his phone while it was charging and noticed messages that immediately alarmed her. Upon going through them, she discovered he had been communicating with someone she believed he should not have been in contact with.

“I woke up on Easter Sunday and he wasn’t at home. When I asked, he said he was at church. I went ahead to prepare meals all day, but he didn’t return until much later. When he came back, he barely spoke to me and went straight to bed after eating,” she said.

She added, “I stayed up for hours, and by around 4 a.m., I checked his phone. That was when I saw messages that made me question everything. It was someone he shouldn’t have been speaking to. That moment changed everything for me.”

Oluwo described the discovery as a defining moment, saying it was the point at which she realized her relationship had taken a different turn.
